Children's Ministry

April Memory Verse Video

Children from birth through 6th grade comprise about one-third of our membership.  Our goal is to provide a Christian environment to nurture their spiritual, emotional, social and physical development.  We desire to teach scripture so our children may apply it in their daily life. Our ministry desires to supplement, not replace, the role of Christian families.

S.A.F.E. (Secure Atomosphere For Everyone)

The safety of our children is a priority.  Children’s workers must complete a screening process and a criminal background check.  All children’s classes and activities have adult supervision guidelines.

Nursery

We offer a staffed nursery during all worship services, caring for children from birth to 36 months.  Classes are always offered for infants, crawlers, walkers and toddlers.  This is where children experience God’s love for the first time outside of their immediate family.  Parents are issued a pager so they may be contacted anywhere in the building.  For the safety of our children, parents must return the assigned pager before their child leaves the nursery area.   

Early Childhood

Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, children age 3 through pre-first experience a program titled God Is Our Hero, A Chronological Study.  Each child receives a Bible with a cover and a character ring for home use.  Wednesday evenings include a devotional designed just for pre-schoolers.  Activities once a quarter allow for the children’s social development and parent networking.

Elementary

Children in grades 1-6 have the opportunity to grow and mature with the guidance of loving and dedicated adult Christian teachers.  Sunday morning and Wednesday evening Bible classes, special events and year-round activities encourage friendships and a strengthened relationship with Jesus Christ.   

Children's Worship Training

We offer a worship training service designed for children age 3 through 1st grade.  The children will experience all elements of an adult worship service presented on their level of understanding.  Children’s Worship Training meets each Sunday.  Children are dismissed from the auditorium.

Reaching the Goal

Our ministry desires to work alongside parents in sharing the joy of Christianity through educational and fellowship experiences.  We hope to aid children in building a relationship with Jesus Christ, resulting in an active and personal faith.  

Special Events

Harpeth Hills is blessed with many loving and gifted Christians.  Our children experience a variety of events throughout the year.  These include Holiday programs, service projects, fund raisers, chorus and family fun.
