Stories of Freedom

The story of the Exodus is familiar. Every one of us can relate to the feeling of being held captive and the longing for rescue. When we read words like “I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery” we find ourselves stirred with hope that freedom is possible. Freedom from anxiety. Freedom from despair. Freedom from addiction. Just when it seems there is no way out…God steps in. Exodus, it turns out, is more than just a historic event it is a present reality. These videos bear witness to real life, modern day “stories of freedom.” You can be “made free.”

I am the LORD your God who brought you out of Egypt…

Exodus 20:2

From the very beginning, God made us free. We were always free to choose. It was the choice that love requires. He did not force us. He freely invited us. And when we chose to walk away, He chose not to. When we became slaves, He rescued us. He “brought us out…with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm” (Deut. 5:15). He made us free all over again. And then, with ten words, He invited us to remain free. Don’t go back. Don’t let yourself be enslaved all over again. This is not just their story. This is our story. We are still free to choose. He is setting before us life and death, blessings and curses. By His grace, we are beckoned once again to be MADE FREE.
