Acts 2:42-47

They “met” together. They “ate” together. They “were” together. Honestly, when Luke describes the early believers at the end of Acts 2, the scene seems almost make believe. At the very least we find ourselves anticipating the “rest of the story.” People may treat each other like that in the beginning. They may start out “together” but they almost never stay together. But again, Acts is not the story of what people do. Acts is the story of what the Holy Spirit does. And “together” is one of the ways that the church verifies that the Holy Spirit is involved because it seems impossible for people to do “together” on our own.
