As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may
be truly sanctified. John 17:18-19
Even as He prepares his disciples for life after God in person, He makes a promise that He will remain. But it is not that He will remain with. The promise is that He will remain in. God in person becomes God in you…a person.
“Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you but if I go, I will send him to you.” God in a person then becomes God in persons, a community inhabited by God in persons.
“…Father…I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one – I in them and you in me – that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
