Sometimes a double-coat of paint isn’t enough, a quick-fix won’t help. You can do your best at coverup but if there is a deeper issue it will eventually become obvious. You can’t ignore the leak under the kitchen sink forever, even if you have a bowl under it. Replacing a piece of siding overtop of a rotting structure virtually guarantees that a collapse is coming. If you really want to fix the problem rather than just trying new ways to hide it, you’ve got to take it down to the studs. That’s not something we can do on our own.
