Welcome to Harpeth Hills

Welcome Guests!

Brotherhood is eating, according to a Lusoga proverb from Uganda.

People all over the world understand that a meal is one of the best settings for a conversation. At Harpeth Hills, we believe this to be true! We aim to create opportunities for smaller groups to enjoy food and engage in conversation together. Friendships are often formed around a table.

We host events designed for guests and new members several times a year. These provide opportunities for people to meet others newer to Harpeth Hills, those who have been here for a while, and our church leadership. Different events may include opportunities to eat together, play games, tell stories, and serve together.

Once you complete a Connect Card, Becca Smith will send you invitations for these events.

Every Wednesday night, our guests and church family are invited to gather for dinner at 5:30pm. Come get to know others over a meal and stay for the Wednesday night class or worship time. There are no reserved seats at these dinners; everyone comes hoping to meet someone new!

You can sign up for Wednesday night dinner by Monday afternoons on the church website: harpethhills.org/meal

Life Together in Community

Small Groups

God created us to draw close to Him with others. We were made for community. At Harpeth Hills, we aim to foster deep belonging and meaningful relationships. Such connections rarely develop for those who only attend Sunday morning worship. Relationships require time and commitment.

Small groups provide a space where everyone is invited to grow closer to God and others. They allow us to know others and to be known. There are several types of small groups at Harpeth Hills, many of which follow the school calendar and have on-ramps at the beginning of each semester.

Community Groups seek to:

Offer the welcoming presence of Jesus.

Engage Scripture by the help of the Holy Spirit.

Build purposeful relationships.

Groups are open to all ages. Some are intergenerational and include children, while others focus more on specific stages of life. Groups meet at least seven times during the school semester. Sign-ups occur in August and January. Some groups meet in people’s homes around town, while others gather at the church building.

A GriefShare support group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. Through this 13-week group, you’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability—and gain solid support each step of the way.

Groups of three to six men meet regularly to encourage one another in their walk with Jesus. Some groups meet in person, while others connect via Zoom.

Each semester, women come together at the building for 7 to 9 weeks to study God’s word through video teaching and discussion. Free childcare is provided for preschoolers.

Dedicated adult youth coaches lead each grade in Bible study and fun activities two Sunday evenings a month during the school year. This intentional time of intergenerational friendship provides students with mentors and friends on their journey from 7th through 12th grades.

Are you new to the area? During the fall semester, women gather on Monday mornings at the church building to offer encouragement and friendship to our newest neighbors. Each week features speakers who address the stress of relocating, share tips for thriving in your new city, recommend family-friendly and budget-friendly activities, and provide insights into local history through products originating in Middle Tennessee.

Couples sign up to meet monthly for a year with another couple who is a little ahead of them in life. Throughout this year, they develop a friendship through guided conversations about marriage. They gather in a relaxed atmosphere, perhaps enjoying snacks, a meal, or dessert together. Each month, there is a specific topic about marriage accompanied by a corresponding list of suggested questions from the mentoring conversations guide.
